The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at Rutgers University invites applications for a Research Associate Professor position with expertise in anatomic pathology and a strong emphasis on teaching, research, and collaborative support in the fields of pathophysiology, histology, and toxicologic pathology. This is a full-time, non-tenure track academic position with responsibilities for instruction, research collaboration, and oversight of a histology core facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and provide lectures in courses spanning pathophysiology, histology, and toxicologic pathology for professional pharmacy and graduate students.
- Collaborate with faculty in the design of preclinical safety studies, particularly involving histopathologic evaluation.
- Provide histopathological analysis, interpretation, incidence and severity scoring for ongoing research projects.
- Consultation services to faculty on regulatory submissions and replies for preclinical toxicology and safety assessment of new molecular entities and medical devices.
- Serve on graduate student thesis committees and participate in student mentoring.
- Oversee the operations and development of an academic histology core facility, including supervising technical staff and supporting the histological needs of multiple laboratories.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
Qualifications:
DVM, MD or PhD with board certification in anatomic pathology (e.g., ACVP, ECVP, CAP or ESP).- Demonstrated excellence in histopathological research, including a strong publication record across diverse experimental models.
- Proven track record of successful academic and industry collaborations in the areas of toxicologic pathology or drug safety.
- Experience mentoring graduate students and teaching in toxicology and pathology courses.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, interdisciplinary mindset.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in GLP-compliant study design and/or regulatory submissions for investigational new drugs (INDs) and medical devices.
- Experience managing histology core facility.
