We're seeking a future team member for the role of Archivist to join our Marketing & Communications team to help in our mission of safeguarding and commercializing our artifact collection while creating world class brand experiences. This HYBRID role is located in New York City. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
- Act as a subject-matter expert and brand historian, connecting historic assets to present-day innovations and global business milestones.
- Oversee the care, preservation, and organization of the company's historic artifact collection, ensuring adherence to best practices in conservation and archival standards.
- Develop and implement cataloging, storage, and digitization systems to enhance accessibility, security, and long-term safekeeping of artifacts. Create and maintain detailed records, provenance documentation, and condition reports, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and insurance standards.
- Curate compelling exhibitions and lead artifact-based tours for executives, clients, partners, and VIPs, and collaborate with Marketing colleagues and other stakeholders to integrate artifacts into global campaigns, thought leadership, and client-facing narratives to strengthen brand perception and storytelling.
- Manage artifact loans, exhibitions, and partnerships with museums, cultural institutions, and academic researchers to increase visibility and prestige.
- Supervise vendors, conservators, and contractors, and steward the artifact collection's budget, procurement, and operational logistics.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
- 7+ years or more years of expertise in archival science, museum studies, or artifact conservation, ideally with experience in a corporate, financial, or institutional setting. Bachelor's, Master's or equivalent.
- Charismatic communicator comfortable leading tours and presenting to executives, clients, and partners. Story-driven with strong instinct for connecting historical content to contemporary brand identity.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a commercial lens, able to spot opportunities for monetization, licensing, and strategic brand partnerships.
- Meticulously organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive, self-directed approach to project management, curation, and cross-functional collaboration.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $66,000 and $113,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
