Supply Chain Specialist

General Summary of Position
Handles all of the daily operational aspects of supply chain management in assigned Procedure based Departments. Accountable for monitoring and trending supply usage to budget and reporting to senior department management. Serves as main contact for all supply and service vendors for assigned areas. Responsible for ensuring department is compliant to committed MedStar Health System, service and supply contracts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Provides feedback for development of department supply budget and manages resources according to approved budget. Coordinates efforts on reducing special orders and non-contract purchases.
  • Communicates all supply related issues to include back orders, discontinued items, recall information , item file changes, and substitutes to the appropriate clinical team member.
  • Participates and oversees in inventory counting, reordering and stocking goods in an efficient and timely manner, while adhering to established order cut-off times. Ensures all scheduled cycle counts are completed and accurate inventory levels and proper replenishment patterns are maintained.
  • Processes all implant requests through Purchasing daily, maintains appropriate documentation and reconciles monthly implant log to purchase order history where applicable.
  • Serves as a participating member on the Surgical Value Analysis Team, the Value Analysis Committee and other Hospital Committees/Teams as assigned.
  • Maintains inventory levels sufficient to meet customer needs within efficient and practical financial guidelines and through routine reviews of min/max and Par level review.
  • Communicates appropriately with department leadership to optimize work flow, discuss product availability, cost controls and develop strategic plans for standardization and savings opportunities.
  • Serves as the primary contact for all manufacturer /vendor representative relations to include oversight of consignment inventories, new product submissions, demos, back order resolution, acceptable substitutes, returns, price changes and contract compliance.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Associate's degree preferred

    Experience

    • 3-4 years Hospital inventory experience required and
    • 1-2 years' Experience with automated inventory or scheduling system preferred


    This position has a hiring range of $28.2 - $47.3
