DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Victim Assistance Coordinator, you will play a key role in advancing our mission by providing critical support and advocacy for crime victims. Your responsibilities will include assisting victims with preparing and delivering impact statements before the Pennsylvania Parole Board and the Board of Pardons, offering accompaniment throughout the criminal justice process, and conducting outreach to both survivors and community service providers. You will also connect victims with appropriate resources by referring them to government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private providers that offer counseling, social services, and other forms of support. Additionally, you will inform victims of their legal rights, encourage active participation in the justice process, and prepare petitions on their behalf for presentation to the Parole Board. In this position, you will exercise independent judgment to ensure timely and accurate notifications are made to victims regarding their rights and developments in the post-sentencing phase of offenders' cases.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per a week after the successful completion of the 6 month probationary period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional social service, counseling, or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services, one of which must include direct services to crime victims, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, or a related area; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional social service, counseling, or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services, one of which must include direct services to crime victims.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
