Role Overview:

New York Life Group Benefit Solutions (GBS) is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Technical Business Analyst to serve as a strategic liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams. This role ensures that technology initiatives align with operational goals and user needs through the clear definition of requirements, effective communication, and proactive project support.

What You'll Do:

  • Gather, document, and validate business and system requirements across multiple initiatives.
  • Ensure clarity and consistency in specifications that support efficient system implementation.
  • Evaluate system defects and coordinate temporary workarounds and long-term solutions.
  • Business-IT Collaboration
  • Act as a translator between business leadership and IT teams to ensure mutual understanding and alignment.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, Demos, Backlog Refinement, etc.) to represent business priorities.
  • Project Execution & Testing
  • Support product managers in writing epics and user stories based on business feedback.
  • Define test strategies, scenarios, and data requirements.
  • Lead system readiness efforts, including solution demos and training support.
  • Capability & Strategy Alignment
  • Work closely with capability leads and steering committees to translate directives into actionable business increments.
  • Drive prioritization, sequencing, and backlog refinement aligned with strategic goals.
  • Process Optimization
  • Identify and implement improvements in process-technology integration.
  • Support creation of SOPs, training materials, and business readiness documentation.
  • Utilize data-driven insights to recommend process enhancements, driving efficiency and sustainable improvement in reporting and analytics.
  • Project and Operational Oversight:
  • Oversee major projects and process changes within the Service organization, ensuring alignment with business needs and timelines.
  • Monitor operational metrics and implement controls to ensure accuracy and consistency in data reporting.

What you'll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience as a technical business analyst or in a systems-oriented role.
  • Proven ability to define requirements, write user stories, and support agile delivery cycles.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile frameworks, and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of user experience principles and process mapping techniques.
  • Ability to identify test scenarios, manage data requirements, and support implementation planning.

Pay Transparency

Salary range:$95,000-$125,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
