Role Overview:
The candidate will join the Accounting Operations team responsible for the support of the NCAA Accounting System and governance of the Company's Balance Sheet Substantiation process.
The NCAA Accounting System is a home grown DB2 platform that primarily processes the accounting of both Life and Annuity product data.The candidate will work closely with the various business areas and technology teams to assist in analysis, accounting changes, administrative system interface changes and reporting requirements. They will also drive process improvement in our product reporting to the business unit controller's and identify automation opportunities.
The Balance Sheet Substantiation governance role ensures the accuracy and integrity of the Company's financial statements. The team reports overall results of the process directly to the Corporate Controller in advance of the Company's quarterly Regulatory filings. There are currently >3,000 accounts spread across over 100 legal entities that are monitored by the team, with reconciliation frequencies that vary between monthly and quarterly. The candidate will be primarily responsible for setting policies and procedures, reviewing accounts, confirming that all accounts are owned, tracking the status of submissions vs. deadlines, and partnering with Corporate Audit and the Financial Controls Unit to confirm that proper standards have been followed in the execution of this accounting control. The process also includes the utilization of two transaction matching systems, which the candidate will play a significant role in maintaining. The candidate will assist with the multi-year plan to increase the utilization of the Match tool and improve documentation and quality of the substantiations.
This role will provide exposure to many areas of the Company, as well as many senior Finance leaders.It will also provide an opportunity to learn insurance, annuity, and asset management product accounting.

What You'll Do:
* Review daily NCAA error reports
* Review accounting testing output
* Develop accounting specification documents and accounting flows
* Understand how to use the NCAA error correction application
* Run queries to extract data from the NCAA Database
* Assist with changes and enhancements within both reconciliation tools
* On a sample basis, review and approve reconciliations submitted by the business areas, working closely to understand activity and resolve issues. The business area is responsible for the creation and approval of the reconciliation; the Accounting Operations team is responsible for ensuring that reconciliations are prepared accurately, completely, and compliant with Corporate policy
* Preparation of reports for the Corporate Controller within 45 days of the quarterly close.
* Review activity over 90 days old
* Oversee Cadency maintenance done by offshore staff, including set up of new users, updates to account assignments, maintenance of required tables, and interface from SAP into Cadency
* Manage NCAA reporting completed by offshore staff, including journal balancing, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
* Provide training & ad hoc support to account owners and their supervisors, as needed
* Review new general ledger accounts and ensure that all accounts are owned
* Drive process improvement and further automation, for both the NCAA system and Cadency application through gen AI and other tools.

What You'll Bring:
* B.S. in Accounting
* 4+ years relevant experience
* SQL knowledge preferred
* Prior accounting operations experience, either in reconciling accounts or recording journal entries
* SAP and Cadency knowledge is a plus
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong working knowledge of Excel and Power point
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Familiarity with life and annuity product accounting a plus
* Self-starter, process-oriented, and driven to learn

Pay Transparency

Salary Range:$80,000-$112,000

Overtime eligible:Exempt

Discretionary bonus eligible:Yes

Sales bonus eligible:No

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
