Accounting - Project Accountant

The corporate accounting team at HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, is actively seeking a Project Accountant to join their team! This a hybrid position based in Downtown Los Angeles' commercial district (Row DTLA).

As a Project Accountant at HOK, you will be responsible for accurate and timely general accounting process and fulfilling a broad range of duties and responsibilities. You will analyze project cost reports and work frequently with the Finance Management team and Project Managers to review status updates, invoicing, profitability, earnings and costs.

Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  Prepares monthly invoices, budgets and project management reports.
  
  
• Sets up and maintains projects on an in-house accounting system according to contract terms.
• Tracks and inputs budget data for assigned projects.
• Prepares, codes and inputs project invoices.
• Answers inquiries from staff, vendors or clients, and communicates financial information to project managers.
• Inputs and posts consultant invoices, communicates with consultants and submits their payments for approval.
• Reviews project contracts and additional service requests to understand the financial requirements on each project.
• Analyzes project cost reports and meets frequently with Finance Management and Project Managers to review status of projects for invoicing, profitability, earnings, and costs.
• Understands how projects earn revenue in the accounting system and assists the Business Manager monthly in analyzing and recording monthly project earnings.
• May provide accounting support to other staff as needed.
• Takes personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices.

IS THIS THE ROLE FOR YOU?

We are looking for someone with advanced knowledge of project accounting concepts and practices, and have a solid understanding of accounting and finance principles. If you thrive on analytical problem-solving and have experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or other project accounting software, we want to hear from you.

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate closely with our accounting team and project managers, while also enjoying the autonomy to work independently. Your effective communication skills will be key to your success here.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting and 2 plus years accounting experience; or an equivalent of education and experience required.
• Accounting experience in an architecture firm and/or project accounting experience preferred.

Compensation is based on experience, qualification, education and location. The reasonably expected salary range for this position in Los Angeles is $36.00/hour to $38.50/hour. Other compensation may include discretionary bonus.
