Wednesday - Sunday, 8am-4:30pm or 9am-5:30pm (Overtime based on workflow)
Summary

The customer is a world class Microbiology food testing lab. Food manufacturers ship samples to the lab for testing. The lab performs the requested testing in an accurate, time-sensitive manner. Candidates need experience in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities


  • Prepare samples for analysis by recording, weighing, and blending.
  • Write identification onto plates to track client and sample numbers.
  • Pipette sample solutions into tubes or plates according to analysis processes.
  • Pour agar into plates to begin the growth process.
  • Collect plates in the incubator for specified times and temperatures.
  • Prepare media and broth for pathogen testing.
  • Ensure media and materials are prepared for the next testing sequence.
  • Maintain knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Set up equipment and materials needed for analysis.
  • Read plates and tubes to determine the number of organisms in the sample.
  • Participate in cleaning schedules and maintain samples.


Education and Skills
  • Associate's degree or High School with 1+ year relevant work experience.
  • Basic knowledge of science to perform testing and obtain accurate results.
  • Knowledge of computers for accurate data entry.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
  • Analytical skills to determine the concentration of microorganisms.
  • Physical dexterity for manipulating samples.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, chemicals, and materials in the lab.
  • Safety equipment such as gloves, laboratory coat, and eyeglasses may be needed.
  • Regular use of the autoclave to complete the analysis.
  • Regular lifting of materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of standing.
  • Ability to detect slight variations in shades of colors.
