DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Equipment Operator, you will train and oversee inmate workers loading and unloading freight. You will conduct inmate worker orientation, ensure work assignments are completed using proper methods of trailer loading and unloading, submit attendance records, and provide input for performance reviews. You will also operate tractor trailers, trucks, and other motor vehicles to transport freight for the DOC Correctional Industries (CI) Regional Laundry Operation as well as perform routine vehicle maintenance and safety checks. This role requires the ability to form effective working relationships that will enable inmates to learn the standard principles and practices of freight terminal operations. In addition, you will inventory materials and tools while adhering to work area safeguards including exercising control over inmates and searching for contraband. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 5:30 AM to 1:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in the operation of tractor-trailer trucks; or
- A combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
