Looking for a change in your scope of mental health services work? Passionate about helping improve the system to address the social, emotional, and mental health needs of K-12 students in Vermont? Join a committed team of professionals at the State to implement a project focused on developing sustainable infrastructure for school-based mental health programs and services. The person in this role will provide administrative oversight and management of a 5-year (ending 9/29/2028) $9M federally-funded project from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) entitled "Project AWARE- Advancing Wellness And Resiliency in Education." While the Department of Mental Health will take the lead for this project, its success will be accomplished through collaboration and partnership with organizations across state government, 3 local education agencies and their local community mental health agencies, training and technical assistance entities, an evaluator, and students and families. This role will coordinate closely with the Agency of Education's AWARE Co-Coordinator and will be the lead person to communicate with and report to SAMHSA and oversee the contract and grant agreements with all project partners. Ideal candidate will have knowledge of school mental health and multi-tiered systems of support in school systems as well as strong project management skills and experience with grant administration. This position,DMH Grant Program Administrator - Limited Service (Job Requisition #52737), is open to all State employees and external applicants. It is a Limited Service position, which is non-tenured and authorized for a specific period of time. Limited Service positions are established for specially funded projects or programs. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. In accordance with AHS Policy 4.02, Hiring Standards, Vermont and/or national criminal record checks, as well as DMV and adult and child abuse registry checks, as appropriate to the position under recruitment, will be conducted on candidates, with the exception of those who are current classified state employees seeking transfer, promotion or demotion into an AHS classified position or are persons exercising re-employment (RIF) rights. Environmental Factors
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Interaction with government staff, representatives of other human service organizations, and families and consumers is frequent and may involve conflict and strong feelings. Tact and diplomacy are needed. Frequent travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation should be available. Some evening and weekend work and some out-of-state travel may be required. Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree or higher in Mental Health or closely related field AND one (1) year or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development. OR Bachelor's degree or higher in Mental Health or closely related field AND two (2) years or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development. OR Four (4) years or more of experience in mental health, public health, or health care administration and program development. Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience with federally funded programs and will have experience in the mental health system of care including specific experience in the project area of focus (e.g. preference for experience providing/overseeing school-based mental health services for a project focused on addressing student mental health in school systems).
