The University of Virginia is seeking a Radio Telescope Specialist to help deploy and commission the Jefferson Trust Radio Telescope (JTRT). This is a Lab Tech 2 level position. The JTRT is a new 5-meter radio telescope that will be sited at the University of Virginia's Fan Mountain Observatory (FMO), which is located approximately 20 miles south of Charlottesville. Job Description The Radio Telescope Specialist will help PI Johnson and other Instrumentation Group members in the Astronomy Department execute the JTRT project. Physical Demands This position will require working in a laboratory and working outside at Fan Mountain Observatory. More Information The anticipated salary for this position is $22 per hour. This is a University Staff, non-exempt benefited position.
