RWE is a global energy company committed and one of the world's leading renewable energy companies with the goal of investing billions of dollars in the U.S. in the next decade.

We are expanding our Project Development team to serve the growing demand for energy from large load customers in the United States. This includes originating and developing sites for data centers, hydrogen applications, and gas-fired generation projects, to be combined with our core business of energy generation through solar, wind, and battery storage projects. The Project Development team closely collaborates with other internal functions (e.g., utility-scale renewable development) and external stakeholders to identify the best sites for our expanding project portfolio. We secure the required land, electrical interconnection capacity, utilities and permits. The Project Development Managers lead the project development from the project's origination to taking the financial investment decision and start of construction.

We are looking for individuals with experience in energy infrastructure project development, e.g., renewables, data centers, conventional generation, or hydrogen. If you're excited about working in this space we encourage you to submit your interest! We look forward to speaking with you.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Develop data center, hydrogen and gas-fired generation projects, from origination to financial investment decision and start of construction
  • Identify most promising future project locations, either co-located with RWE's utility-scale renewable projects or standalone, and negotiate land control agreements and engage with local stakeholders
  • Manage development projects, collaborating with internal subject matter experts and external consultants. This includes site due diligence, environmental studies and permitting, interconnection & engineering processes, securing required utilities, project valuation etc.
  • Identify project risks and drive project optimization based on a solid understanding of the key drivers for projects' technical feasibility and commercial attractiveness
  • Ensure successful project management
  • Manage project budgets, objectives, schedules, and deliverables
  • Support management presentations and drive internal approval processes

Job Requirements and Experiences:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering, business, economics, or other relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 8years of work experience in the development of large infrastructure projects, ideally in renewables, data centers, conventional generation, hydrogen, or the broader energy industry, with a proven track record
  • Knowledge in key areas of project development, including energy markets, prospecting, real estate development, interconnection, permitting, environmental, water rights, fiber, natural gas, project management etc.
  • Familiarity with data center, hydrogen and/or gas-fired power plant technologies
  • Knowledge of federal and state-level hydrogen incentives and regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with techno-economic modeling for energy infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to empathize, build relationships, and effectively communicate with people from a diverse set of backgrounds
  • Pragmatic and solution-oriented attitude with strong problem-solving skills
