Overview

Supports, processes and reviews loan origination and renewal documents for commercial loan products. Responsible for reviewing credit approval request, determining loan structure, obtaining correct due diligence documentation and preparing the required loan documentation for closings. This position will be required to effectively interact with Business Loan Advisors, third party vendors, and departmental management through all stages of the documentation preparation and processing in accordance with established guidelines.



Responsibilities

    Ensure the requirements of Board of Director's Commercial Loan Policy regarding various aspects of loan documentation are met and satisfied and adhere to policies and procedures (regulatory, legal and internal).
  • Confirm proper approval was obtained for each loan request and conditions to close are satisfied prior to closing. If applicable, address the need for post-closing documentation for servicing specialists.
  • Obtain the required documentation of various legal entities for the Borrower and Guarantors, if applicable, and ascertain proper signing authority.
  • Understand/obtain the required application documentation.
  • Determine and obtain the different collateral requirements of various commercial and small business loans.
  • Insurance requirements based on collateral and regulatory guidelines.
  • Real estate title policy and supporting documentation.
  • Appraisal and Environmental Due Diligence is appropriate according to established policy.
  • UCC pre-searches, when applicable.
  • Generate accurate non-complex to moderate loan closing packages through the credit union's preferred software program, confirming all exceptions are noted and communicated to the Commercial Loan Documentation Manager through the preparation of the Collateral Checklist. Review the accuracy of outside counsel documentation prior to closing, if applicable.
  • Utilize Collateral Checklist to accurately track the compiling of necessary documentation, itemize/track closings documents and establish/maintain CIFs for borrowers.
  • Assist in accurately updating Loans Pending Closing pipeline to track the closings of pending loans and issues arising with the documentation that may impact the scheduled closing and present weekly report to management, effectively participating in weekly staff and individual meetings as required.
  • Effectively communicate with Business Loan Advisors or other personnel for timely delivery of completed closing packages and specific closing instructions.
  • Follow all credit union policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and complete all required annual required or job-specific training.
  • Carry out all responsibilities with professionalism and respect for others in accordance with the credit union's policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field is preferred

Work Experience

  • 1-3 years of loan documentation experience is required
  • 3-5 years of documentation experience is preferred
  • Commercial loan processing experience is preferred
  • Experience with Finastra/LaserPro documentation solution is preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide excellent internal and external member service.
  • Ability to manage an assigned pipeline in order to meet closing expectations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with departmental software an
  • Demonstrates a competent grasp of the Board of Director's Commercial Loan Policy and MBL Procedures with adherence to those policies and procedures along with regulatory requirements.
  • Comprehend the concepts and principles of loan documentation requirements dictated by loan type and collateral and utilize these accurately in the creation of loan documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with the appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Proficiency with departmental software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is required.
