Senior Functional Product Owner - Maersk Ground Freight

MAERSK INC.
parental leave, paid time off, 401(k)
United States, New Jersey, Florham Park
May 16, 2025

Why this role matters

At Maersk, we're reimagining supply chains to empower our customers and teams around the globe. As our Senior Functional Product Owner (SFPO) for Ground Freight, you'll be a key driver of that vision, leading the global delivery of scalable, efficient, and customer-centric operational processes, with a particular focus on North America (NAM). You will deliver end-to-end business process excellence and enable digital solutions that bring our integrator strategy to life through standardization, automation, and frontline adoption.

This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of product, process, and people. You will report to the Global Process Lead (GPL) for Ground Freight and E-commerce Logistics, who holds global ownership of Maersk's process architecture. As SFPO, you'll play a vital role in translating strategic process models into actionable product development that balances global standardisation with local execution. You'll lead a team of Functional Product Owners and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to bring to life and continuously improve the Ground Freight process and controls.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Translate the strategic vision set by the GPL into actionable product roadmaps for Ground Freight operations (FTL, LTL, HBDS, PUDO, etc)
  • Lead functional discovery and alignment to define user stories in collaboration with frontline teams, Global Service Centres (GSC), and technology teams.
  • Own the functional backlog and prioritise delivery based on business value, operational feasibility, and customer impact.
  • Ensure risk and control requirements are embedded in process design from day one.
  • Co-develop scalable, user-friendly solutions with Product, Data, and Tech teams-supporting both process optimisation and new product launches.
  • Champion change management: support go-live readiness, frontline training, and hypercare adoption tracking.
  • Monitor key process metrics related to the Service Delivery Function and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support integration of Ground Freight processes during M&A activities and act as an initiative owner when required.
  • Lead and coach a team of FPOs, enabling them to drive process delivery, standardization, and continuous improvement at scale.

What We're Looking For

  • 7-10 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain transformation-ideally within Ground Freight or 3PL operations.
  • Experience operating in a global process role with deep knowledge of North American transport markets and execution environments.
  • Proven people leader, comfortable managing senior professionals across time zones and cultural contexts.
  • Deep expertise in process design, governance, and continuous improvement in matrixed environments.
  • Strong product-thinking mindset with experience working in agile delivery models.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

What we offer

  • Flexible working hours and hybrid options that support life inside and outside work.
  • Parental leave for all parents and familyfriendly benefits from day one.
  • Mentoring & sponsorship programmes with senior leaders committed to accelerating female careers.
  • A culture that celebrates teaming over heroics - collaboration, kindness, and continuous learning drive our results.

Starting Salary: $150,000 - $180,000 USD*

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and 401k Match.

*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
