ThePrincipal Test Engineerwill be working within a portion of the R&D department known as the TAI (Test, Architecture and Integration) team. This team focuses on Integration testing of components of a full system solution (hardware, firmware, RF and Cellular Network communication, and Software) for the electric, water, and gas meters.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical Testing & Quality Assurance

    • Develops and executes test plans, cases, and designs; estimates test durations and ensures quality standards.

    • Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects in AMI systems; investigates test environment issues and resolves them.

    • Executes tests in cellular network environments, analyzes results, and communicates findings.

    • Ensures accuracy, completeness, and continuous improvement in quality processes.

  • Collaboration & Communication

    • Works closely with architects, development engineers, and internal teams on product design, code reviews, lifecycle inspections, and technical requirements.

    • Shares knowledge, supports team goals, communicates effectively, and contributes in cross-functional teams.

  • Adaptability & Innovation

    • Quickly absorbs new technologies, adapts to change, handles pressure, and adjusts plans as needed.

    • Generates ideas, supports innovation, and takes independent action to solve problems creatively.

  • Accountability & Performance

    • Takes initiative, meets deadlines, manages workload effectively, and goes beyond role expectations to achieve objectives.

    • Tracks KPIs, supports department goals, and completes technical tasks within timelines.

  • Professionalism & Technical Expertise

    • Maintains current job knowledge, completes engineering tasks, authors documentation, and follows standardized procedures.

    • Possesses knowledge of hardware/software integration and demonstrates strong workplace professionalism.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 8+ years of test experience on med-large systems

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • History of building productive relationships with colleagues

  • Aptitude for thinking outside the box to ferret out obscure anomalies during test

  • Ability to write queries and analyze performance issues

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science is required, but this requirement may be waived if the applicant has sufficient experience.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Manual Integration testing

  • Experience in testing systems utilizing cellular networks

  • Good troubleshooting and analysis skills to determine root cause of issues

  • Familiar with usage of MS Azure DevOps

  • Proficient with MS Office applications

Physical Demands

  • Applicants must be able to lift and carry electrical test equipment weighing less than 20 pounds short distances. Connecting and disconnecting electrical test equipment is also required.

The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills and experience and may vary by location.

Liberty Lake, WA: The base salary is: $96,000 - $184,000
