The Procurement Process Excellence Principal brings a strategic mindset to align Penumbra's procurement practices with its business objectives.
They are responsible for extracting valuable insights from disparate datasets to optimize decision-making processes through a combination of descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics.
They will develop a comprehensive framework for turning data into actionable insights and help identify areas for improvement by working closely across Operational and Strategic Procurement, as well as other departments, to balance agility, predictability, and transparency across Penumbra's value chain while reporting performance metrics to management.
Essential skills for this position include strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, proficiency in supply chain software, and excellent communication skills.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
* Identify opportunities to implement automated processes, develop and provide recommendations including ROI analysis.
* Communicate methodologies and findings from data set that gives insights towards accurate reporting on procurement processes and performance.
* Monitor supplier, inventory, and spend performance metrics and recommend corrective actions to ensure operational excellence.
* Develop mechanism for measuring and aligning key metrics with finance and production.
* Develop and maintain key metric monitoring and reporting tools related to cross-functional teams including periodic reports, dashboards and scorecards based on historical and forecasted data, trends, and input across operations and finance.
* Provide expertise in procurement analytics; serve as a corporate expert on procurement advisory and consultation.
* Maintain and coordinate activities with other departments as needed, for example, collaborate with cross-functional supply chain teams to understand and access available data that informs procurement decisions.
* Demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Select, manage, train, and develop staff.
* Establish objectives and assignments and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans.
* Demonstrate continuous improvement mindset across the procurement processes that encourages innovation and proactive problem-solving.
* Adhere to the Company's Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Understand relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adhere to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company.
* Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.
* Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications Required
* Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, or a related field with 8+ years of experience in supply chain, operations or equivalent combination of education and or demonstrated experience.
* Experience with SAP Materials Management solutions.
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.
* Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
* Ability to process data, analyze information, think critically, identify cause-and-effect relationships, solve complex problems.
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Proficiency in supply chain software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is essential.
* Proficiency in SAP Materials management or similar ERP.
* Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously.
* Formulate and report analysis using quantitative and qualitative analytic skills.
* Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
Position Qualifications Desired
* Master's degree in supply chain, data science, or a related field preferred.
* Degree in business, supply chain, logistics, inventory management, or a related field preferred.
* Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired.
Working Conditions
* General office environment.
* Willingness and ability to work on site.
* May have business travel from 0-25%.
* Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
* Requires some lifting and moving of up to 20 pounds.
* Must be able to move between buildings and floors.
* Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day.
* Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets.
* Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed.
* Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
Annual Base Salary Range: $131,000 - $210,000
We offer a competitive compensation package plus a benefits and equity program, when applicable.
Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
