Job Summary:

CenterPoint Energy is seeking a strategic and collaborative Materials Manager - High Voltage Materials to lead the planning, procurement, and inventory management of high-voltage materials critical to the reliability and resilience of our electric system. This position will work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and other key stakeholders to ensure material strategies align with system resiliency goals and long-term capital plans.

Essential Functions:



  • Serve as the primary liaison between Materials Management and Engineering for all high-voltage materials, including transformers, breakers, switchgear, and other critical assets.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Demand Planning to forecast and plan long-lead and strategic inventory needs to support substation and transmission projects, system expansion, and emergency response.
  • Support the execution of CenterPoint's system resiliency plans by translating engineering and operational requirements into material strategies.
  • Develop and maintain visibility into upcoming projects, engineering standards, and long-term system planning efforts to ensure proactive material availability.
  • Partner with Procurement to support sourcing strategies and ensure supplier readiness for critical high-voltage materials.
  • Monitor inventory levels, lead times, and delivery schedules to optimize availability while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings, resiliency committees, and project reviews to represent Materials Management interests.
  • Provide input into specifications, vendor evaluations, and strategic sourcing decisions for high-voltage components.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain related to long-lead or single-source materials critical to system reliability.
  • Create and maintain KPIs related to high-voltage material availability, inventory health, and resiliency plan support.
  • Ensure material master data for all high-voltage items is accurately maintained in SAP in accordance with CenterPoint's enterprise data governance standards, including classification, descriptions, unit of measure, and sourcing data.
  • Collaborate with the Master Data Governance Office to identify and resolve data quality issues and support continuous improvement of SAP material records.



Education Description:



  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.



Experience:



  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in supply chain, materials management, or engineering roles, preferably in the utility or energy sector.
  • Experience working with or managing high-voltage electrical materials preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP ECC and S/4 HANA preferred) and supply chain planning tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable material strategies.
