Overview

Sierra Lobo, Offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Full Life Cycle Systems Engineering for Low Production of Aerospace Systems, and Development of Advanced Technologies. We develope products related to Cryogenic Infrastructure, Cryogenic Fluid Management Systems, Optomechanical Systems, electrical and mechanical GSE, and flight electronics. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and many aerospace primes.

Space Flight Systems Development and Operations Contract (SpaceDOC III) contract located at NASA's Glenn Research Center.



Responsibilities

NASA Glenn Research Center, under the SpaceDOC-III contract, is seeking a part-time Electrical Engineer specializing in power electronics to design, develop, and verify space flight hardware for payloads operating on the International Space Station (ISS) and other potential space habitats.

Key Responsibilities

    Power Electronics Design: Develop circuit boards and supporting elements such as control systems, housekeeping, and filtering/conditioning tailored for space applications.

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure designs adhere to EEE-INST-002 and IPC specifications for printed wiring assembly (PWA) design and build.

  • Component Selection and Analysis: Select and analyze electronic, electrical, and electromechanical (EEE) parts for compliance with space environments, including radiation and vacuum conditions.

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team to transition ground prototypes into space flight designs, ensuring integration and functionality across various systems.



Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Educational Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in power electronics design, particularly in environments requiring high reliability and compliance with space standards.

  • Standards Knowledge: Working understanding of EEE-INST-002 and IPC specifications for PWA design and build.

  • Environmental Compliance: Experience in selecting and analyzing EEE parts for compliance with space environments such as radiation and vacuum.

  • Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment to mature ground prototypes into space flight designs.
