Reports To: Director of Planning and Heavy Maintenance

Travel: Required as needed. Pre-approved travel expenses reimbursed.

STS Engineering Solutions is hiring an Interim Manager of CRJ Aircraft Heavy Maintenance Planning to lead and support one of our customer air carriers' strategic maintenance programs. This is a contract leadership role with the potential for permanent placement within a Part 121 air carrier organization.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing day-to-day operations and strategic long-term planning for the customer's Heavy Maintenance program, including aircraft allocations, budgeting, compliance, and performance metrics over a five-year planning horizon. You will oversee a team responsible for forecasting and optimizing heavy maintenance schedules across the CRJ fleet.

The ideal candidate will work onsite in Dayton, Ohio four days per week.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the daily operations of the Heavy Maintenance Planning team for CRJ aircraft
  • Create, refine, and implement heavy maintenance schedules using optimization software
  • Maintain and improve five-year heavy maintenance plans
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to measure maintenance allocation performance
  • Manage budget planning and contribute to ongoing cost optimization
  • Provide oversight for fleet induction and retirement coordination
  • Maintain all required reports, technical manuals, and work instructions
  • Travel to MRO facilities as needed for pre-induction and post-check reviews
  • Conduct compliance audits and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Lead team training and performance development efforts
  • Serve as a key contact for PSA and other stakeholder groups
  • Support the Safety Management System (SMS), Safety Risk Management, and Safety Assurance efforts
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in aircraft maintenance planning
  • Strong familiarity with CRJ maintenance programs
  • Experience with aircraft inspections, allocation, and task management
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to analyze data and implement maintenance strategies using modern tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to obtain a valid passport
  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written)
  • Prior supervisory experience required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, aviation, or business administration
  • 2+ years of experience in heavy maintenance planning
  • Experience using Aerostrat maintenance planning software
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License a plus
