Job Description:

The Principal Quality Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining our Product Quality and Quality Management System (QMS). He/she will act as a focal point for Quality within the group and as a technical liaison for all matters relating to quality of produced goods and new design/development for our Power and Relays product lines. The Principal Quality Engineer will also support the Aerospace and Defense (Hi_Rel Processes)products'qualityrequirements by:

  • Review customer requirements against existing procedures and flows and making change recommendations.
  • Investigate and resolve customer facing quality issues using tools such as 8D reporting, 5 Why analysis etc.; prepare and facilitate customer and internal corrective actions.
  • Act as an PoC of BU's CAPA process and work with related process owners/teams to perform root cause analysis and follow up with them for corrective actions on the product/process issues.
  • As an PoC of BU's NSCAR process to address customer questionnaires and surveys - coordinating or providing required content.
  • Managing ongoing reliability program (plan, execute, perform product test, co-ordination, etc) and periodic Reliability report updates.
  • Prepare Data-pack and perform C of C's .
  • Monitor and continually improve the Hi-Rel processes. Performing periodic spot inspections of the production areas.Work with the Ops/Mfg. teams to solve in-house quality concerns, review of nonconforming product, and recommend disposition.
  • Perform Internal audits of processes and systems based on AS9100 standard.
  • Technical proficiency to read and understand component specifications, component qualifications and reliability summaries, yield, Cpk, AVL, BOMs, familiar with Mil/Hi-Rel requirements: documentation, nomenclature, protocols, etc.
  • Proficiency in various quality tools like PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, FMEA, etc.
  • In depth understanding in various standards/quality systems tied to ISO9001, AS9100, and IATF16949.Liaison with external auditors and customers
  • Monitor and perform Supplier audits tied to various standards like AS9100 and ISO9001.Responsible to perform suppler ratings and risk assessments including risk mitigations.
  • Interface with internal parties and external parties (engineering groups, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, government entities and customers such as DLA) to perform witness source Inspection and resolve quality issues, complete comprehensive corrective actions and drive quality improvement.
  • Provide comprehensive metric and technical reporting to company management on internal quality performance, report and track any significant non-conformances from quality standards, and provide recommendations for improvement and corrective action.
  • Utilize engineering skills, quick learning, and self-motivation to succeed in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of related Quality Assurance Engineering experience in electronic systems manufacturing design or processing industry,
  • Must have a BS in Electrical Engineering, Material Science or equivalent technical degree.
  • Working knowledge of Aerospace Defense process and its products.
  • Experience with Semiconductor, Electronic Power and Relay materials/systems manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Experience in performing final QC inspections, data-pack preparations, and CofC a plus.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills and interpersonal skills with ability to successfully interact with customers, all levels of management, manufacturing staff and suppliers world-wide; Must have excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to lead or work in cross-functional teams to review and resolve customer or supplier issues in a timely fashion.
  • Customer focused, a self-starter, detail orient, positive, quick learner and a problem solver.
  • Detail oriented and critical thinker characteristics are required.
  • Teamwork spirit is required.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $75,000-$232,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
