Position Summary
This Evergreen Cybersecurity Engineer role is part of a continuous hiring initiative to build a pipeline of cleared cybersecurity professionals to support current and future mission-critical DoD programs. As openings become available, we will match applicants from this requisition to positions requiring RMF expertise, system authorization support, and compliance leadership across the enterprise. You will lead system cybersecurity efforts, implement RMF-compliant solutions, and collaborate with AOs, ISSOs, PMs, and engineers to ensure secure systems are authorized and maintained in accordance with DoD and Air Force policies.
Responsibilities
Duties include, but not limited to:
Develop and maintain security documentation including System Security Management Plans, Program Protection Plans, OPSEC Plans, and Risk Analyses in accordance with DoDI 5000.02, DoDI 8510.01, and MIL-STD 1785.
Support RMF-based Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) efforts by assessing and guiding required artifacts and control implementations. Monitor and update system information and cybersecurity status in government compliance databases and tools. Manage user account provisioning, port/protocol authorizations, access control lists, and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) identity requirements. Coordinate the implementation, distribution, and remediation of security updates, configurations, and software patches in compliance with DoD directives. Evaluate systems for vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for mitigation based on technical assessments and policy review. Promote security awareness across program stakeholders and ensure alignment with cybersecurity principles and business goals. Conduct security audits, contingency planning reviews, and risk assessments to ensure organizational resilience. Advise on security architecture and participate in systems design to ensure alignment with cybersecurity best practices. Review, evaluate, and recommend security mechanisms, including configurations and waivers to policy when appropriate. Assist with incident response and digital evidence preservation in support of potential legal or counterintelligence actions. Analyze cybersecurity control implementations across open systems architecture, derived specifications, and design documents. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful RMF ATO packages are submitted and approved. Manage databases related to classified holdings, visit requests, and personnel access authorizations. Support audits of classified material, perform inventories, and evaluate contractor submissions for classification compliance. Develop and deliver security awareness training, education programs, and briefings. Maintain and enhance communications security (COMSEC) programs, including encryption, key management, and secure transmission compliance. Assess program security requirements in support of FMS customers and serve as a liaison with SAF/IA, AFSAC, AFSAT, DFAS, and other USG stakeholders. Assist in the development and implementation of acquisition security policies across physical, personnel, and documentation domains. Contribute to security planning for transportation, testing, storage, and handling of sensitive hardware and information. Support source selection activities with security assessments and documentation compliance reviews.
Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen Minimum Required Qualifications Clearance: Secret Education: Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field Years of Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, or DoD program security
Experience supporting Air Force or DoD acquisition programs Working knowledge of AF and DoD security directives, including AFMAN 17-1301, DoDI 8500.01, and 5200-series guidance
Preferred Qualifications Clearance: TS or TS/SCI Education: Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline Years of experience: Certifications:
DoD 8570 IAM Level II or III certification (e.g., CISSP, CISM, GSLC) Additional certifications such as Security+, CEH, or PMP preferred
Technical Skills
Deep knowledge of RMF, NIST 800-53, and DoD security control baselines Proficient in managing security tools, PKI, and compliance reporting databases Familiarity with classified systems operations, audit processes, and cybersecurity architecture Ability to analyze risk and vulnerability across networked and standalone systems Strong understanding of cross-domain solutions and secure system design principles

Capable of leading security reviews and interfacing with senior stakeholders Strong communicator, capable of preparing briefings, security documentation, and audit responses Able to operate independently in high-tempo environments while maintaining attention to detail Skilled in collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, including acquisition, IT, and mission support
