Job Description

To develop, conduct, direct and/or coordinate AFNA environmental compliance and other regulatory projects support to AFNA sites including obtaining necessary pre-project permits and approvals as needed. This includes environmental support and assistance for relevant regulations and guidelines covered under federal, state and local regulations as well as best management practices to attain Amcor environmental sustainability goals. Projects assigned to this position are of medium to high levels in complexity.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Secures and maintains knowledge of environmental rules, regulations and best management practices in assigned responsibilities, focused primarily on compliance and enforcement.
  • Monitors proposed laws, regulations, standards and regulatory guidance and assesses applicability to AFNA facilities.
  • Determines internal and external customer needs by identifying problems and developing and evaluating solutions to ensure that AFNA regulatory obligations and Amcor environmental sustainability initiatives are met.
  • Reviews environmental impact of AFNA manufacturing activities, provides direction for minimizing impact and monitors status and success with respect to Amcor environmental sustainability position.
  • Develops both facility specific, AFNA, and Amcor Global programs and necessary tools (e.g. policies, procedures, templates, checklists, etc.) to assist efforts for ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and implementing best management practices.
  • Monitors Amcor product specification system and work with R&D to assure the new materials are evaluated for risk and regulatory acceptability. This includes development and implementation of a consistent AFNA new material review process.
  • Provides technical guidance, compliance support and regulatory interpretation to AFNA leadership, the EHS Program Management group, plant management, engineering, facility EHS Managers and others as necessary.
  • Participates in performing environmental program reviews of AFNA facilities and provides suggestions for operational improvements or enhanced compliance assurance.
  • Identifies and procures necessary data or information to respond to agency, customer or NGO requests.
  • Works with State and Federal agencies, trade associations and other interested parties on initiatives to streamline and improve environmental programs.
  • Identifies potential areas of improvement for the Department and for AFNA's Environmental program and develops proposals for implementation of enhancement initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Technical knowledge of the Microsoft Office products of Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access as well as Internet search techniques.
  • Strong orientation for accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong chemistry background a plus.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

  • A BS degree in engineering or the sciences, preferably in chemical or environmental areas of study.
  • A minimum of 10 years of related experience.
  • Previous job experience in flexible packaging, printing, manufacturing or environmental agency disciplines desirable.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

CompensationThe starting salary for this position is expected to be between $124,600 to $155,700; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range $124,600 to $186,800 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor's Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.
