Reports To: NOSS Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: Classified Salary Schedule

Work Days: 190

NW REGIONAL ESD'S MISSION STATEMENT: In Partnership with the communities we serve, Northwest Regional ESD improves student learning by providing equitable access to high quality services and support.

General Description:

This position conducts school visits to recruit and train high school and college students to serve
as student leaders in the Northwest Outdoor Science School (NOSS) program, and plays a key
role in student leader engagement and retention.

Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

1. High School Education or GED
2. Bachelor's Degree preferred
3. Experience working with high school students in an educational or mentoring capacity
4. Valid Driver's License

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

1. Active interest in youth and environment.
2. Ability to work with youth as well as adults.
3. Ability to communicate successfully in both oral and written form.
4. Ability to establish and maintain strong professional relationships with high school and
college students, high school guidance counselors, high school administrators &
teachers, college placement officials, and other community members.
5. Strong organizational & keyboarding skills
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and
Google Drive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Include the following. Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other Duties may be assigned. The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position.

A. Recruit high school and college students to serve as NOSS Student Leaders.
B. Facilitate "in-town" training sessions for high school and college students who wish to volunteer as
new NOSS Student Leaders.
C. Assist with scheduling high school and college students as NOSS Student Leaders.
D. Occasionally send off and greet Student Leader buses.
E. Help to maintain accurate and accessible records of all volunteers.
F. Assist in communicating regularly with Student Leaders by phone and email. G.
Promote volunteer opportunities at various venues including, but not limited to; high
schools, colleges, fairs, conferences, meetings, etc.
H. Attends ESD staff meetings and other meetings.
I. Assist NOSS office and site staff as needed to support NOSS operations. J. Travel to NOSS
sites during the session to support Student Leaders and site staff, as needed, to support and
enrich Student Leader program.
K. Assist the NOSS Principal and NOSS Support Specialist as assigned.
L. Create recruiting materials, such as posters, banners and possibly videos.
M. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
