DSG is seeking a Director of Inventory Operations & Planning. In this corporate leadership role, you will drive consistency and continuous improvement within our branches and regions to support continued growth throughout DSG, specifically within purchasing, inventory, and the warehouse operations that support inventory. This role will focus on the value stream from Purchasing decisions to Inventory Management. Included in this are all business aspects necessary to effectively manage and plan an optimal balance of supply and demand. Critical to the success of this role will be a keen focus on getting the right inventory, in the right place, at the right time - balancing sales needs, inventory turns, and inventory impact to total company financial plan. Additionally, this role will have responsibility for new locations and acquisitions integrations to DSG Inventory and Planning Standards. A Typical Day in the Life of a Director of Inventory Operations & Planning at DSG:
- Serve as the primary contact/intermediary between DSG Corporate departments and branch environment to build, train, measure, and ensure accountability for consistent Inventory Management standards throughout all locations.
- Optimize the "Purchasing Intake" process. This includes roles & responsibilities, process governance, KPI's to govern check and adjusting, as well as evaluations of future system/process needs
- Advance DSG's Inventory Operations capabilities with a midterm goal to build out an effective S&OP process.
- Support the Regional Operations Managers (ROMs) to be sure they have consistent support and knowledge of expectations within their role.
- Lead initiatives and best practices that ensure comprehensive and efficient purchasing and inventory-related processes that meet the needs of our customers, sales team, and branches.
- Support effective inventory management across the entire DSG footprint.
- Work closely with ERP team to be sure that current systems and processes within the ERP are being followed and changes are made when necessary.
- Drive actions within processes, settings, and order management to drive improvement on overall working capital for DSG.
- Complete gap analysis on related operational processes and corresponding recommendations to business leaders within DSG.
- Build best practices that will allow DSG to expedite the acquisition process.
- Drive meetings and manage timelines to hold other stakeholders accountable for moving necessary projects along.
- All other duties as assigned.
A Successful Director of Inventory Operations & Planning Typically Has:
- Strong understanding of DSG's Multi-Segment Strategy
- Extensive knowledge and business acumen of wholesale distribution
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline with a minimum of 10+ years of related experience in the industry, including a minimum of 3-5 years in a management capacity, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent people skills, with an ability to collaborate with internal leaders and external partners
- Adaptability and the ability to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving work environment while also driving toward clarity and solutions
