Research Assistant - PRN - Evenings/Nights/Weekends/Holidays

General Summary of Position

ThisPRN Research
Assistant will cover the night shift outside of the regular hours, as transplants happen many times in the evenings, late at night, weekends, and
holidays.

Under direct or close supervision, provides technical lab and clinical research assistance to the research team to facilitate a variety of research activities including pre-clinical work, study development and protocol management, literature review, participant screening and recruitment, data collection, analysis and dissemination, and database management.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participates in or leads preclinical projects for the research team.
  • Provides technical support, such as cell isolation, for the lab and biorepository collection/banking team.
  • Performs qualitative and/or quantitative research data collection, as requested.
  • Assists with data management and analysis as needed.
  • Communicates effectively with research investigators, staff and collaborators.
  • Assists with the organization and maintenance of research records as needed.
  • Assists with the recruitment, selection, scheduling, and consenting of research participants as required.
  • Prepares timely reports and presentations of project data and progress as required.
  • Consistently demonstrates support for compliance in the performance of job duties and responsibilities by a) developing and maintaining knowledge of, and performing job functions in compliance with, rules, regulations, policies, and statutes that affect his/her job; b) maintaining knowledge of and performing job functions in compliance with MedStar Health and MedStar Health Research Institute policies and procedures; and c) reporting compliance concerns in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • Bachelor's degree in a health, science, or other related field preferred
    • Associate degree in a health or science related field required, or equivalent education/experience required

    Experience

    • Undergraduate and/or work experiences that demonstrate aptitude for research facilitation required
    • Previous work in a research setting preferred


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
    • Must be flexible, highly motivated, dedicated and capable of working both independently and on various team projects in a diverse setting.

    This position has a hiring range of $18.33 - $31.61
