The Opportunity:

As Portfolio Leader, Immunology & Ophthalmology you will focus on co-creating the Portfolio Strategy and managing the portfolio of the Immunology and Ophthalmology Therapeutic Areas. You will be expected to closely collaborate with colleagues in groups beyond PSM (e.g., Global Product Strategy, PD Functions, other Portfolio groups in Roche, Program Management, Finance, gRED, pRED, Chugai) in your day to day work. Accountabilities include, but are not limited to, a combination of the following areas:

  • Therapeutic Area Portfolio Strategy development - Partner with PD & GPS Therapeutic Area Heads and other Pharma Leaders (LSPC members, PD & GPS Franchise Heads, pRED & gRED Therapeutic Area Leaders, LifeCycle Leaders) to co-create and deliver robust Immunology & Ophthalmology portfolio strategies that provide the scaffolding for molecule decisions

  • Therapeutic Area Portfolio Management - Actively manage the Immunology and Ophthalmology portfolios with an enterprise mindset, providing data-driven actionable portfolio insights that contextualize individual molecule and project decisions within the Therapeutic Area, Late Stage, as well as Pharma portfolio priorities. Collaborate closely with the Late Stage Governance Lead as well as Program Managers in implementing the governance process at the Therapeutic Area setting, as well as the Immunology & Ophthalmology Board Implementation Team in enabling development and business reviews in advance of portfolio investment decisions.

  • Decision Support and Valuation - Serve as an active thought partner to decision-makers and mentor to Portfolio Leads for areas including, but not limited to defining/scoping of tactics to deliver on defined portfolio strategies; content expertise to develop strategic options and valuations; trade-off analysis, and/or decision framing including portfolio context. Serve as an objective and expert reviewer at Boards when invited, focusing on strategic options, trade-off analyses, and valuation

  • Portfolio assessments and presentations - Understand and communicate portfolio dynamics (risk, value, mix, competitive positioning etc) at the Therapeutic Area, Late Stage, as well as Pharma levels to influence portfolio decisions.

  • You will actively support and model talent flow to work with the highest impact across PSM as well as the broader portfolio community across R&D units to deliver more patient benefit.

Who You Are:

You are a talented and passionate individual, driven by our shared purpose of co-creating and delivering the portfolio for the benefit of patients.

You bring the following background and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, business, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree and/or certification (e.g. MBA, PhD, PharmD, MS, MPH) preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including clear, succinct and timely communication, proven ability to build trusting relationships with and influence stakeholders at all levels.

  • Strong drug development understanding, along with planning and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated thought partnership and/or ability to influence Senior Leaders on complex topics, including framing, decision support, and options analysis.

  • Experience in portfolio management and strategy development.

  • Ability to navigate within a changing organization, maintaining objectivity, respect for differences of opinion, and proven ability to question and challenge in a constructive manner.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco is $187,800.00 - $348,800.00 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.
