Nursery Supervisor

**The hours for this position are every Sunday from 9:15am - 12:45pm, hourly rate ranges from $18 - $20/hr**

Summary/Primary Purpose: To provide safe and high-quality care for infants and toddlers during Sunday worship service and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Supervise and provide structured care to children 0-4 years old during church worship hours and special events.
  2. Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  3. Collect and record pertinent child information as directed.
  4. Follow the appropriate protocol for checking toddlers and infants in and out of the nursery area.
  5. Instruct children in health and personal habits such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  6. Engage children in activities including, but not limited to, reading, drawing, coloring and singing.
  7. Assist in preparing and serving appropriate snacks for children.
  8. Maintain nursery toys and equipment in an orderly, clean and sanitary condition.
  9. Change diapers as needed and appropriate.
  10. Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  11. Work with volunteer(s) assigned to assist in the nursery.
  12. This position may be required to work special events outside of normal work hours, to include holidays.
  13. All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: Volunteers.

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or general education degree (GED). No prior experience; will train on the job. Experience providing structured care to infants and toddlers is a plus.

  1. Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  2. The ability to access payroll, timekeeping and personal data via a web-based system.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with children, caretakers and stakeholders
  4. Ability to plan and facilitate structured, meaningful activities
  5. Ability to think creatively
  6. Problem solving and decision-making skills
  7. Must be kind, compassionate, empathetic and intuitive.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist and lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions: The work is performed in a typical day care/nursery setting with moderate noise level.
