Manages a team of medical bill review representatives who are tasked with ensuring accurate interpretation of the governing laws and regulations surrounding the processing and transmission of disability and medical payment data related to workers' compensation claims. Manages and assigns the medical bill inventory to ensure timely processing. Assists with the implementation of systems, workflows and processes that support and comply with laws and regulations pertaining to timely and accurate processing, payment, and reporting of Workers' Compensation medical bills. Accurately interprets state fee schedules and other medical bill regulations as well as medical bill coding data including ICD9/10, CPT and HCPCS codes.

What You'll Do:

As a Medical Bill Review Supervisor, you will manage a team of medical bill review representatives who are tasked with ensuring accurate interpretation of the governing laws and regulations surround the processing and transmission of disability and medical payment data to related claims units. You will do this by:

  • Providing work direction, coaching, and guidance and act as a technical resource for the medical bill review team.

  • Assisting with coding and state fee schedule research and direction as needed.

  • Performs quality audits and interpret audit results, and takes/recommends corrective action to ensure accuracy and consistency.

  • Coordinate and participate in the development and testing of workflow, process, and system enhancements designed to gain efficiency.

  • Creates and monitors metrics and reports that appropriately and accurately measure performance of people, systems, processes, and workflows.

  • Develop onboarding and training material for new associates and assists with training activities as needed.

  • Oversees complex bill review activities to ensure accuracy of pricing and payments.

  • Administers human resource-related activities.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of related work experience

  • 1+ years of related work experience in a medical office, insurance environment, or medical coding.

  • Strong human relation and communication skills, with high level of customer service and telephone skills required.

  • Previous supervisory experience and/or training beneficial.

  • Advanced knowledge of ICD9/ICD10, CPT, HCPCS Codes necessary for accurate processing.

  • PC knowledge including Excel as well as keyboarding, math aptitude, and organization skills.

  • Proficient analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to work independently.
