ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to reviewing and approving capital asset additions, disposals, adjustments, depreciation, and allocations. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for property accounting and preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports by compiling information, preparing and analyzing profit and loss statements, and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.

What You Will Do

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of multifamily properties.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.

  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.

  • Ensure timely and accurate posting of journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions.

  • Perform monthly variance analysis and explain significant budget-to-actual differences.

  • Assist with annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for each property.

  • Review and process accounts payable and receivable; work closely with property managers to ensure accuracy.

  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and record depreciation entries.

  • Coordinate with internal/external auditors and tax preparers for annual audits and tax filings.

  • Support the implementation of process improvements and new software as needed.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.

  • CPA a plus.

  • 3+ years of accounting experience required

  • Multifamily and joint venture experience a plus

  • Solid understanding of accounting processes.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and related products.

  • Must be deadline focused, organized and exhibit problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong technical writing skills.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Interact effectively as part of a team.

  • Handle a dynamic work environment with competing priorities.

  • Build positive working relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.

  • Exercise sound judgment when making decisions.

  • Able to meet deadlines as necessary.
