Reporting to the General Manager, the Sr CAD Designer is responsible for overseeing the CAD Department and creating CAD drawings for GC Products and its customers in the architectural building products industry.

What a Sr CAD Designer does..

  • Oversees all CAD department functions.
  • Creates submittal drawings from customer's architectural drawings and information.
  • Evaluates, analyzes, and implements innovative technologies and design tools to enhance CAD capabilities.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area and office.
  • Collaborates with and supports other departments to maintain company operations and efficiency.
  • Participates in GC Products manufacturing efficiency program.
  • Strives for excellence and supports the success and profitability of the company.
  • Attends project and production meetings.
  • Engages in occasional travel to customer or other work locations.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree/certificate in computer-aided design, engineering or computer scienceORequivalent related work experience is required.
  • 2+ years of CAD/design experience.
  • 3+ years of 2D design drafting experience using AutoCAD.

Work Environment

  1. Office Environment - This position operates in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. No PPE is required.
  2. Plant Environment - This position operates in a manufacturing setting and can be subject to extreme cold and hot temperatures; uneven walking surfaces with cords, tools, and other obstacles; intermittent loud noises; and dusty or dirty conditions. Required PPE includes hard hat (when required), safety glasses, earplugs, steel toe/composite boots, and fall protection.
