About the role
A Staff Infrastructure Engineer II solves the most complex business challenges by coordinating the delivery of quality solutions from teams across multiple portfolios. They will be responsible for the technical direction, design and implementation of solutions across multiple portfolios. They are a champion of innovative solutions and ideas, and regularly participate in evaluation of new technologies and tooling.
What you will do
- Explore and define how digital disruption as macro trend influences business models, products, systems.
- Consider short-term and long-term aspects in terms of how services will be utilized, perceived, and adopted across a wide range of applications.
- Assesses emerging trends, technologies, electronic platforms, and potential digital opportunities.
- Lead the design, architect, and deployment of efficiency enablers and solutions that are consumable to Symetra application teams.
- Develop 3-5 year technical roadmaps from a strategic and tactical perspective for the domain area.
- May present business cases and evaluate total cost of ownership and return on investment of various alternatives.
- Participate in the enterprise-wide systems architecture and integration strategies across multiple platforms, technologies or software systems.
- Recommend goals and strategies for technology projects and solutions in response to enterprise initiatives. Contributes to the delivery of strategies, standards and governance activities including design, build and other hands-on architectural activities.
- Provides regular reporting on progress, issues, and opportunities related to technical solutions and addresses issues and risks as applicable.
- Participates in the assessment of projects for architecture impacts in support of annual planning, resource estimation, and alignment with IT strategy and enterprise architecture.
- Key issue resolution management. Identify themes and provide visibility to root cause analysis resolution.

Compensation
Salary Range: $151,300 - $252,100 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.
Who you are
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines (such as technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management or operations) in a multitier environment.
- Familiarity with basic information management practices.
- Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to present ideas in user friendly language.
- Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture.
- Knowledge of business re-engineering principles and processes.
- Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting.
- Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories.
- Understanding of the political climate of the enterprise and how to navigate the politics.
- Ability to balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions.
- Ability to translate business needs into EA requirements.
