Summary:

The Tax Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in coordinating process improvement and resource management within the Tax department. Responsibilities include overseeing the administrative support team, resource management, and spearheading initiatives aimed at enhancing departmental efficiency. The role involves collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and implementing strategic solutions to optimize operations. Additionally, the Tax Operations Manager contributes to fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead administrative support function for fast-paced and growing tax department
  • Effectively manage performance, build relationships and provide mentorship for team of Executive Assistants and Resource Management Specialists
  • Collaborate with tax partners/leaders to identify issues, develop action and execute as it pertains to operational processes for the tax department
  • Lead regular tax process improvement workshops with administrative team and professional staff
  • Establish and effectively train new tax administrative processes
  • Ensure tax processes are adequately documented, maintained and adhered to
  • Identify potential workflow bottlenecks and effectively mitigate key issues impacting project delivery
  • Manage regular workload balancing and resource assignment allocations
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development department to on board tax office staff on administrative procedures and processes
  • Research, review and propose action plan to tax leadership for new or updated software solutions
  • Collaborate with firm's operation team, including IT, as tax administrative representative in key firm initiatives to drive process improvement and automation for the department
  • Stay current on IRS administrative compliance matters, propose action plan and update key stakeholders accordingly
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area of discipline preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of administrative experience
  • Experience supporting a public accounting or professional services firm highly preferred
  • Extensive experience working in a paper-less environment, preferably in a professional service firm
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook & PowerPoint, process mapping, and tax software systems
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Must have clear and strong written, verbal and active listening skills
  • Motivated to make a meaningful impact on our firm and to develop oneself professionally
  • Effectively recognize and solve problems
  • Intellectually curious to improve processes and increase efficiency within the firm
  • Attention to detail and ability to step back and apply big picture thinking
  • Work well under pressure and with a team; able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good professional judgment
  • Team player with desire to be an active participant within the firm
  • Flexibility and openness to work on a variety of assignments, able to multi-task

Compensation Range: $100,000 - $130,000*
