DLZ Corporation is looking for skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician in Columbus or Akron, Ohio. What You'll Do: As an AutoCAD / Civil 3D Technician, you'll play a crucial role in the development and execution of our survey and civil engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include:
- CAD Production: Utilizing AutoCAD Civil 3D to create and modify a variety of technical drawings, plans, and exhibits for civil engineering and surveying projects (e.g., site plans, utility layouts, topographic maps, boundary surveys, construction plans).
- Data Processing: Assisting with the import, processing, and analysis of raw field survey data, point clouds, and other geographic information into Civil 3D.
- Calculations & Adjustments: Performing basic calculations and adjustments related to survey data, alignments, profiles, and surfaces.
- Research & Support: Conducting research of public records, property deeds, and existing plans to gather necessary project information.
- Quality Assurance Support: Assisting with quality control checks on drawings and data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards.
- Communication: Maintaining clear and professional communication with Project Managers, Surveyors, Engineers, and other team members.
- Safety Adherence: Operating company equipment and performing all tasks with a strong focus on safety and responsibility, adhering to all public health and safety requirements.
- Documentation: Assisting in the preparation of reports, exhibits, and other project-related documents.
- Team Collaboration: Taking on additional technical support responsibilities as needed to ensure project success.
What You'll Bring:
- High School diploma (required); Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in computer-aided drafting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Foundational understanding of basic land surveying methods and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience working with MicroStation Open Roads software for processing field data and developing right-of-way plans (preferred).
- Completion of the Ohio Department of Transportation Right of Way Plan Development Course, useful.
- Valid driver's license along with the ability to pass a background check, an MVR check, and a drug test
