The person in this role oversees and leads all corporate credit functions which includes managing credit applications, credit limit establishment, credit hold reviews, accounts receivable reconciliations, negotiations and collections. Partners closely with finance, customer service, shipping and sales to manage credit risk while maximizing sales and resolving problems.
Based in beautiful and affordable Racine, Wisconsin, at our Headquarters on the shore of Lake Michigan, you'll have incredible access to a variety of outdoor activities whether skiing and snowmobiling in winter, or kayaking, fishing, sailing, hiking or more in summer. What you will do:
- Oversees the establishment of credit/collection policies and procedures for all business units which includes but is not limited to managing credit limit guidelines, credit term guideline reviews and ensuring the guidelines are implemented/enforced. Partners with customer service, sales, shipping and other internal departments across the businesses to identify and improve processes as well as problem solving issues.
- Develops and implements plans for maximizing collections and appropriate handling of accounts receivables. Manages and negotiates the resolution of collection matters with customers and payment settlements.
- Oversees the credit application and approval process for new and existing customers and the review of accounts receivable balances and bad debt reserves. Monitors quality and ensure efficient and effective processes.
- Manages the chargeback resolution process by reviewing chargebacks, researching claims, reviewing claim validity, and partnering with key departments to resolve issues.
- Manages legal, collection and bankruptcy issues which includes monitoring accounts, overseeing correspondences, serving on creditor committees and negotiating settlements.
- Performs enterprise analysis of key accounts receivable and collections metrics/results which includes accounts receivable aging and bad reserves to identify payment/credit risk accounts.
- Responsible for SOX compliance for credit and collections and interacts with internal and external auditors, and provides documentation as requested.
- Manages proper documentation in customer credit files to ensure documentation adequately supports the credit exposure.
- Coordinates and networks with industry credit groups which includes participation in quarterly meetings.
- Partners with the information technology department to ensure PCI (Payment Card Industry data security standards) documentation is submitted timely and accurately.
- Visits key accounts to develop rapport with finance and discusses key financial metrics and bank financing to better evaluate customer risk.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
- In partnership with human resources, performs human resources responsibilities for staff, which includes but is not limited to the following: hiring and terminating employees, promotions/pay adjustments, staff development, performance evaluations, resolution of employee concerns and disciplinary counseling. Catalyst for the development of individual talent.
- Develops and approves policies, procedures and guidelines to meet business needs.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in information accounting, finance or equivalent.
- Typically requires a minimum of 7 years of experience managing corporate credit and collection functions.
- Thorough understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of credit and collections, as well as best in class processes.
- Knowledge of general accepted accounting principles and strong internal controls; including SOX understanding.
- Possess high attention to detail, and accuracy, with the ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment and work with minimal direction.
- Knowledge of governmental regulations pertaining to credit collection.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Outlook) or similar products. Experience with large-company ERP systems, preferably with JDE. Knowledge of and willingness to leverage systems and tools to drive efficiencies.
- Strong leadership experience with an emphasis on relationship management and communication at all levels within an organization. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with highly diverse cultures and personalities across the organization globally and maximize the positive outcome of interactions.
