Job Summary:

The Program Manager, Advanced Process Control (APC) is responsible for driving the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Messer's APC systems to advance plant automation and operational excellence. This role oversees the full lifecycle of APC technologies-from sustaining and optimizing existing systems to implementing innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance across the plant fleet.

Principal Responsibilities:



  • Perform ongoing maintenance, optimization, and software upgrades for existing Advanced Process Control (APC) systems, including system remodeling as needed.
  • Lead the implementation of new APC systems to support plant performance and process efficiency.
  • Identify and deploy innovative control technologies aimed at enhancing the operational efficiency of Messer's plant fleet (example - possible AI application).
  • Collaborate with Remote Operations Center (ROC) engineers to identify and execute system enhancements that deliver measurable financial value.
  • Work closely with global teams to exchange knowledge, share best practices, and support the development of standardized APC strategies across geographies.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate APC controller effectiveness and ensure sustained value delivery.
  • Conduct regulatory process control loop tuning for both new installations and existing plant operations to ensure optimal performance.


Required Skills



  • Strong technical knowledge and experience with APC systems
  • Experience with modeling process dynamics for implementation in linear model predictive control systems.
  • Intermediate computer and software system proficiency to be able to set up new and troubleshoot existing computer systems.
  • Possesses strong communication and visible leadership skills.
  • Effective change management
  • Ability to think strategically, challenge the status quo and improve existing processes/ systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience with PID Loop Tuning
  • Experience with programming process control systems (Wonderware, PCS7) a plus
  • Knowledge of industrial gas production processes (ASU, CO2, etc.) a plus


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in advanced process control
