The Role

This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies aimed at retaining our valued volunteers. A key focus will be on cultivating a positive and engaging experience for everyone who contributes their time and effort to our mission.

    Enhance Volunteer Experience: Ensure all stakeholders enjoy a seamless, top-notch experience during their volunteer engagement.
  • Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer engagement strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
  • Foster Creativity: Brainstorm and implement innovative initiatives to retain and engage volunteers effectively.
  • Leverage Technology: Deploy and manage technology to enhance the volunteer experience through multichannel engagement.
  • Continuous Improvement: Consistently assess and enhance volunteer engagement processes, procedures, and results.
  • Measure Success: Establish and implement key performance metrics, milestones, documentation, and reporting standards.
  • Train: Partner with the learning team to design training programs for volunteers and committees, empowering them to effectively support our strategic initiatives.
  • Support: Offer continuous support to staff committee liaisons and volunteers, including training sessions and best practice updates.
  • Collaboration: Work with diverse teams, including our volunteer Board of Directors to identify and leverage opportunities for improving services for stakeholders and volunteers, ensuring effective implementation and communication of these opportunities. In addition to focusing on energizing volunteer engagement activities, this role will spearhead the development and collaboration of enriching employee initiatives.
  • Communicate: Serve as the primary contact for developing high-level communication to volunteers, leadership, and other stakeholders. Including the management of the National Committee member directory and database.
  • Event Coordination: Organize volunteer appreciation events and recognition programs, as well as assist with projects and problem-solving.
  • Embrace Innovation: Stay abreast of trends and best practices in volunteer management and engagement to drive continuous improvement.
  • Administer: The management of the USTA National Committee operating practices with the Volunteer Management Council. Responsibilities include developing, improving, and implementing processes for appointments, evaluations, and scorecards, as well as managing communication, reporting, and meeting standards.
  • Manage special and independent projects as assigned.

  • Proven management and volunteer engagement experience, preferably in an association setting.
  • 5+ years of experience, with an emphasis on committees and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated ability to use technology to enhance the volunteer experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • High emotional intelligence and the ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in collecting, documenting, and interpreting data to implement policies and procedures.
  • Ability to lead and manage teams.
  • Outstanding organizational, planning, and time management skills. Excellent judgment with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience collaborating with diverse groups of volunteers and stakeholders, including board members and senior staff. Eager to be an integrated team member and flexible in working across different US time zones to attend virtual committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis or as needed.
  • This position is based in Orlando, FL and is designated as "hybrid/flex" and may allow for both remote and on-site work. Any such position must meet the current USTA hybrid/flex requirements as updated from time to time.

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $60,000-$75,000. This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
