Engineer II - Systems
Overview The Ship Systems components department works with Electric Boat, Navy, and outside supplier personnel to develop various engineered components for submarine applications. Some of the components include valves, AC units, air compressors, hydraulic components, atmosphere control equipment, fans, and other miscellaneous components. Some of the key responsibilities associated with this job include development of technical requirements, ship integration, supplier oversight/project management, development of project budgets and schedules, review of drawings and technical reports, lead meetings and presentations, and associated day to day project management activities. Periodic travel to Navy and supplier facilities is required. As an Engineer EII, expectation is that there is a general knowledge of the industry practice, techniques, and standards. Problem solving skills to develop solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity is required. Work will be under only general supervision. Work will be reviewed for soundness of technical judgement and overall adequacy and accuracy. As an EII you will be expected to contribute to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Frequent internal company contacts as well as inter-organizational contacts and outside customer contacts is required on a routine basis. Engineering rotations supporting other departments or organizations including our Planning departments may be required based on business needs for this position. Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows for occasional work to be performed remotely at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Bachelor of science degree in Mechanical, Marine, Civil, Chemical, or related technical degree
