Job Summary:
This position is a temporary assignment with a targeted duration of three (3) months. Extension of the assignment beyond this period is subject to company discretion and business needs. Employment during the temporary period does not guarantee further opportunities or permanent placement. The IT Field Technician will provide on-site field support for provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of end-user hardware, software, and business applications. A successful candidate will enjoy working outside of an office setting, know to handle cable runs, mount devices cleanly, and get installs done right; will have installed PoE devices like cameras or access points, have ability to remain organized, work independently, and safely navigate/work in industrial/construction environments.
Main Responsibilities
- Embrace the Company's safety culture, actively support all safety initiatives, and adhere to defined accountabilities implemented by the Safety Steering and Continuous Improvement teams
- Support, promote, and practice the Company core values, vision, and mission; follow code of ethics, workplace conduct, safety, and other established policies
- Install IT hardware: desktops, printers, and networking gear
- Run and crimp CAT6 cables
- Install and configure PoE security cameras
- Assist with device staging and deployments
- Support end users and troubleshoot gear
- Travel to plants, quarries, and job sites across WY, CO, and NE
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- College coursework and/or equivalent technical school training in IT field;Associates degree or equivalent experience in Information technology preferred
- Industry-relevant certifications such as: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ preferred
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving history
Skills:
- Experience installing and supporting IT hardware (PCs, printers, switches, etc.)
- Strong hands-on skills with running and terminating CAT6 cabling
- Experience with PoE devices, especially security cameras
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware and basic network issues
- Comfortable working in construction, plant, or industrial environments
- Familiar with basic safety practices for field work and equipment installs
- Able to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and time-management skills
Physical Requirements:
- Required to wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety guidelines when visiting job sites
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, handle and manipulate objects, write, use a keyboard and/or mobile device
- Regularly required to engage in verbal and written communication (talk and hear)
- Regularly required to perform tasks requiring visual acuity to perform tasks, read instructions, and navigate work environment
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Regularly required to work from a seated or standing position for long periods, and walk across uneven terrain
- Frequent exposure to typical construction and industrial site conditions, including dust, loud noise, and working in close proximity to heavy equipment and vehicles, and all weather conditions
- Regularly required to communicate professionally in-person, over the phone, and via e-mail
- Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
- Frequent travel (overnight stays away from home may be required)
