Who we are looking for:

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineering Manager to be based out of Harvey, IL. Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Engineering, this person will be responsible for managing and overseeing various projects including administering capital budgets and leading continuous improvement projects.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably electrical engineering and 7 years of industry experience with responsibilities in capital project and project management. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a requirement.

What you'll do:



  • Provide project management expertise as the project leader or team member on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide documentation and schedules for improvement projects.
  • Plan and evaluate integration of new or upgraded equipment including installation or relocation.
  • Assist Manufacturing in various improvement projects, such as Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvements, and Problem Solving.
  • Provide plant level ownership of capital expenditure process, including planning, budgeting, and writing.
  • Lead rebuild/re-design of machinery and processes to improve Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
  • Member/driver of daily Gemba walks
  • Participate and/or Lead in Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Provide ownership of plant electrical equipment and power distribution. Ensure plant electrical equipment remains up to safety codes.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor team of engineers to ensure the highest level of performance and standards of excellence. Provide troubleshooting direction to E-Techs and Electricians.

  • All other duties as assigned.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably electrical engineering and 7+ years of industry experience with responsibilities in capital project and project management.
  • Ability to run Cross Functional Team Based Projects
  • Working knowledge or tube mill operations and manufacturing techniques preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD or Solidworks.
  • Professional and positive approach, self-motivated, dynamic, creative with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with ability to meet challenges.
  • Customer interaction experience a plus.


Within 3 months, you'll:



  • Complete your Atkore Immersion Program.
  • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.


Within 6 months, you'll:



  • Gain an understanding of your teammates and areas supported.
  • Assist in continuous improvement projects within the facility, including participating in Kaizen.
  • Manage multiple projects by developing plans, quotes/estimates, and schedules.


Within 12-months, you'll:



  • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Improve new and existing manufacturing processes for cost reduction, quality or efficiency.
  • Support operations by leading and directing technical activities necessary to solve problems encountered in any part of the facility.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $115,600 - $158,950 . Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
