Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity as Assistant Controller for Press Forge and American Handforge sites. This position is responsible for many of the day-to-day finance activities including but not limited to month end close and inventory and costing systems for the Press Forge and American Handforge sites based out of Paramount California.

Job Description

The Assistant Controller is responsible for adherence to financial policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, a strong control environment, and protection of company assets. The Assistant Controller reports to the Multi-Site Controller and is a crucial member of the accounting team.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct and perform account reconciliation process to maintain integrity of Operation's general ledger and its supported subsystems.
  • Oversee and supervise A/R, A/P and payroll functions within the operation.
  • Review, analyze, evaluate and interpret financial forecasts and operating results.
  • Provide information of results and recommend corrective actions to address unfavorable variances.
  • Produce weekly, monthly and/or quarterly financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepare business activity reports, financial forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Report and monitor on the deployment of cost saving programs and the impact on the operation.
  • Support compliance with corporate policy including SOX.
  • Assist in the monthly closing by reviewing and preparing various entries for departmental charges.
  • Prepare statements for Flex P & L, variable, fixed, etc.
  • Support and counsel Operation leadership team on financial implications for operating strategies, cost control actions and decisions.
  • Work with internal and outside auditors concerning financial reporting.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational innovation and regularly interact with business owners and senior level management on accounting matters
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance (advanced degree, CPA, or CMA preferred).
  • Prior supervisory experience, specifically in AP/AR and general accounting
  • Minimum 5 years' financial experience in progressively responsible positions within global, multi-site manufacturing organizations, with a demonstrated track record of accountability and achievement.
  • Strong leadership, project management and communication skills.
  • Strong skills and knowledge of accounting theory, application of financial principles (GAAP) & Standard Cost Accounting.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting and forecasting processes, profitability and variance analysis.
  • SOX knowledge
  • Experience working with ERP systems; Oracle or Syteline preferred
  • Strong presence that reflects a "hands-on", participative, pro-active operating style.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in optimizing accounting processes
  • Ability to work in a dynamic accounting department, successfully juggling daily responsibilities, projects and deliverables
  • Liaison with auditors including internal, external and SOX audits.
  • Excellent PC computer skills with advanced Excel spreadsheet experience

Relocation

Relocation is authorized for this position.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $90,000.00 to $115,000.00 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
