Work Schedule:

100% FTE, 40 hours per week. Shifts scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM. Cohort starts 7/28/2025.

Pay:

We offer a competitive starting pay of $18.25 per hour. Upon graduation from the program, pay would increase based on the Ophthalmic Assistant pay grade. This position is benefit eligible.

We are currently seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant Apprentice to:



  • Join our 8 month Ophthalmic Assistant Apprenticeship Program which is designed for those interested in becoming an Ophthalmic Assistant at UW Health.
  • Attend in person classes and clinicals.
  • Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be interviewed and will be placed in Ophthalmic Assistant positions within UW Health.
  • Gain hands on experience in direct patient care tasks, visual acuities, processes, and procedures in an ophthalmology setting.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and formal acceptance into the UW Health Medical, Ophthalmology or Nursing Assistant Clinical Apprentice Program Required

Work Experience:

  • 1 year of prior work experience Required

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support / CPR Preferred
