Global Division Communications Manager

Your role and responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Pricing Manager to join the global team for ABB Process Industries. As the Strategic Pricing Manager, you will play a critical role in driving our division's growth and profitability by developing and executing pricing strategies across our key industries - including mining, metals, pulp & paper, cement, and digital solutions. This role requires a strong background in value-based pricing, competitive analysis, and commercial enablement to ensure our offerings are positioned effectively in the market and aligned to customer value.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic pricing development
*Build and execute pricing strategies tailored to different business lines, offerings (e.g., digital, service, engineered systems, spare parts), and customer segments - aligned with industry trends and ABB's value propositions.
*Design pricing programs for transitioning business models towards usage as a service for eligible portfolio.
Value-based pricing models
*Design frameworks that reflect customer ROI, performance outcomes, and competitive differentiation - especially for automation and lifecycle service offerings - and ensure they translate into value-based selling successes
*Train relevant stakeholders in key pricing, and VBP/VBS concepts as they relate to this area
Pricing governance and enablement
*Create pricing guidelines, tools, and exception management processes that enable countries and sales teams to make fast, consistent, and value-driven pricing decisions.
Market intelligence and benchmarking
*Establish a robust process to gather and analyze publicly available global pricing intelligence, cost structures, and competitor moves across our industries
Sales and business line collaboration
*Partner closely with sales, business line leadership, finance, and marketing to shape go-to-market pricing models and support commercial teams with clear guidance and tools.
*Act as the first point of contact for pricing-related topics and help drive value-based pricing behaviors across the organization.
Performance tracking
*Define KPIs and tracking mechanisms to measure pricing effectiveness, monitor margin performance, and recommend course corrections.

Qualifications for the role
  • To be successful in this role, you bring over a decade of experience in B2B strategic pricing, ideally within industrial, digital, or engineered solution environments. You have a proven track record of implementing value-based or outcome-based commercial models, and you possess strong analytical capabilities that allow you to transform complex, multi-source data into actionable business insights.
  • You bring a solid commercial understanding of solution selling and customer buying behaviors, particularly in industries such as mining, pulp and paper, metals, or process automation. Your ability to influence and collaborate effectively across a matrixed, global organization is a key strength, enabling you to lead through influence rather than authority.
  • Your educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field, with an MBA or pricing certification considered a valuable asset.
  • You are fluent in English, both written and spoken, and proficient in tools commonly used by pricing leaders, such as Conjoint analysis, Value Driver Prioritization, and MaxDiff analysis.
  • Familiarity with the process industries - such as mining, pulp and paper, metals, and digital technologies - is preferred, along with an understanding of their market dynamics and customer needs, though this is not a strict requirement.
