Overview

The Senior Analyst position will take a lead role in partnering with Steam's Project Management Office and Construction to develop, track, and monitor current working estimates for various projects within Steam's capital and retirement portfolios, as well as validating the monthly accruals. The Senior Analyst will also identify improvement opportunities through data-led analyses and influence customers to implement the opportunities.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • The Senior Analyst position will take a lead role in partnering with Steams Project Management Office and Construction to develop, track, and monitor current working estimates for various projects within Steams capital and retirement portfolios, as well as validating the monthly accruals. The Senior Analyst will also identify improvement opportunities through data-led analyses and influence customers to implement the opportunities.
  • Enter budget information into the budget system. (e.g., Oracle ePBCS). Supports the budget development process, particularly with the quantification of the work plan (e.g., unit cost trend analysis).
  • Supports and leads financial forecasting processes with analyses using relevant systems/tools and enters forecast information into the associated system. Validate capital and O&M forecast information.
  • Attends key customer meetings, challenges forecast assumptions and provides recommendations for improvement.
  • Communicates monthly performance to customers.
  • Leads spend driver tracking through maintenance, analysis, and communication of weekly data.
  • Performs ongoing analysis of accrual submissions of all types, along with associated payments.
  • Assists in rate case filing and regulatory reporting and helps prepare relevant documentation.
  • Performs additional tasks when necessary to support the organization and the Company.
  • Participates in annual capital optimization and governance process.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field and 3 years of related experience
  • Master's Degree and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, or related field and 2 years of related experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • At least 3 years of Financial Planning & Analysis related experience, required.
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative and presentation skills, required.
  • Understanding of ConEds business (e.g., services provided, current events) and FP&A function (e.g., objective, role, deliverables), required.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office and budgeting tools (e.g., Oracle, SAP), required.
  • Understanding of accounting principles (e.g., income statement, balance sheet), required.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking capabilities and proactive qualities, required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision-making, required.
  • CWEs, Engineering and Operations experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx) a plus.
  • Familiarity with work management systems (e.g., Logica, Maximo) a plus.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed.
