Position Summary

The Crisis Peer Specialist provides education, support and consultation to consumers and their families during the crisis intervention process throughout Pierce County. You will provide mobile outreach services to consumers through advocacy, problem solving, mentoring and promoting hope and empowerment. You will be responsible for rotating shifts on a 24/7 basis that includes evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise about the recovery process, symptom management, and the persistence required by consumers and their families with severe mental illnesses to have a rewarding life
  • Collaborates to promote a team culture that recognizes, understands, and respects each consumer's point of view, experiences, and preference
  • Facilitates maximization of consumer choice, self-determination, and decision making in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of treatment
  • Serves as a liaison with community resources, allied treatment providers, and substance abuse services.
  • Provides education, support and consultation to consumers and families in crisis; provides support during the crisis intervention process

Requirements

  • Certified Peer Counselor by the mental health division per WAC 388-8650107
  • Be a self-identified consumer of mental health services
  • Maintain registration as a counselor under chapter 18.19RCW
  • Successfully pass an examination administered by the Mental Health Division

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.58 - $35.36 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
