In this role, you will play a key part in managing all aspects of contracts and negotiations for our marine, waterfront, and bridge construction projects. SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Contracts Specialist position is responsible and accountable for implementing all aspects of the company's contracts and related documents from drafting and negotiation through monitoring, enforcement and compliance. The position serves as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders and provides guidance and support throughout the contract life cycle. To fulfill these obligations, the Contracts Specialist must be able to prepare, review and negotiate contractual and other business documents of varying complexity. Related functions of the Contracts Specialist include working in conjunction with the Chief Risk Officer to identify and mitigate legal and operational risks and support the company's insurance programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare, review, revise, negotiate, track and execute contracts, subcontracts, teaming agreements, leases, nondisclosure agreements, purchase orders, liability waivers and other risk management documents in consultation with company management and client representatives.
  • Maintain standard company agreement forms and develop new forms to meet company needs.
  • Communicate key contract clauses and issues to internal stakeholders, provide guidance on contractual matters and assist in resolving contract disputes.
  • Maintain organized records, track contract status, manage contract renewals and extensions and prepare activity reports as needed.
  • Evaluate and resolve potential risks and ensure that contracts comply with applicable laws and policies.
  • Interact effectively with project managers and personnel in accounting, safety and administrative roles to facilitate contract processes.
  • Work with the Chief Risk Officer to identify and procure additional insurance coverage as required by client contracts.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Strong negotiation and contract drafting skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language.
  • Solid understanding of contract provisions and risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer functions (Microsoft Office, etc.) and web-based portals
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in business, risk management, paralegal services or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • Other combinations of bachelor's degree, certificate programs and related experience will be considered

COMPENSATION

The annual salary range for positions in Kentucky is $59,000 - $81,000 based on education and relevant experience.
