Description

Our esteemed cardiology department is seeking a highly motivated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our inpatient cardiology consult service. In this vital role, you will collaborate with the attending physician, advanced practice providers, and other team members to provide comprehensive and specialized care to patients with a variety of cardiovascular conditions.

A Brief Overview

The Advanced Practice Provider is responsible for providing quality care for patients and increasing patient access and satisfaction. Standard tasks to be performed by an Advanced Practice Provider as specified by the Ohio State Board of Medicine or Nursing and UH entity specific Medical Bylaws.

Responsibilities:



  • Respond to consultations for patients admitted with acute or chronic cardiac conditions, including heart failure, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, and valvular heart disease.
  • Conduct thorough history and physical examinations, focusing on the cardiovascular system.
  • Review diagnostic tests like EKGs, echocardiograms, and cardiac catheterization reports.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the consulting cardiologist and primary care team.
  • Educate patients and families about their condition, treatment options, and expected outcomes.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and imaging studies as needed.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current on advancements in cardiology.

  • Complies with all policies and standards.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
