The Position

As Roche's future product portfolio demands for more and more device capabilities and product solutions, we are investing in our industrialization and sustaining engineering capabilities by strengthening and expanding our Device capabilities. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced senior technical and strategic manager leading those efforts, embedded within the Global Device MSAT (Manufacturing Science & Technology) organization.

The Global Head of Device Industrialization and Sustaining Engineering is accountable for defining and driving the Pharma TechOps E2E Device Industrialization Strategy to enable future success of pipeline therapeutics and transforming Sustaining Engineering ensuring best in class process robustness and cost effective manufacturing of marketed products. This includes collaborating with development, manufacturing,marketing and commercial teams on patient and business needs, capacity scale-up, cost reduction/ optimization, competitive advantage; and building robust supply chain processes in a fast-paced and highly competitive environment. Investments are to be scouted, facilitated and driven towards implementation.

The Opportunity

Owns E2E device industrialization and sustaining engineering strategies by:

  • Ensuring manufacturing readiness by executing robust industrialization strategies through pilot plant and manufacturing scale-up and proactive sustaining engineering activities.

  • Providing senior strategic and finance leadership for E2E device industrialization and sustaining engineering strategies and robustness governance.

Global Device MSAT ensures timely market introduction and robust manufacturing by:

  • Leading and steering all aspects of E2E device industrialization at internal Sites as well as for Suppliers and CMOs.

  • Ensuring early engagement with development and manufacturing teams acting as the critical interface and influencing product/ part designs in alignment with industrialization requirements..

  • Expanding Sustaining Engineering capabilities as a Single Point of contact for commercial combination product and medical device ownership and management.

  • Implement and further strengthen the PT device industrialization process.

Ensure uninterrupted supply and business continuity of critical components and final products through collaboration with multiple functions of the Device Community:

  • Accountable for the performance of industrialization and sustaining engineering projects and marketed products through the correlation of critical process parameters and functional device performance in collaboration with Site Manufacturing network.

  • Leading an organization of Medical Device Technical Leads for industrialization and sustaining engineering projects (located globally and at sites).

  • Partnering to plan and execute device industrialization and sustaining engineering projects including investment and product strategies and standardization within the network.

Active and standing member of the Global Device MSAT Leadership Team. As a member of the PT Device Community, advocate and collaborate for entire Pharma TechOps and beyond (Product Franchise, Procurement, etc.).

Accountable for crafting & developing a strong sense of belonging in all functions contributing to the Device Community with focus and collaborative mentality and behaviors. Coordinating the progress of Device Community activities and acting as a coach.

Who you are

  • B.S./M.S/Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, business, pharmaceutical technology, or a related field

  • 15+ years' total work experience with at least 10 or more years' relevant experience in medical device and/ or combination product design development, industrialization, sustaining engineering, manufacturing, and strategic planning and deployment

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $235,700-$437,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
