About Us:

Founded on a commitment to relentless, continuous operational improvement and extraordinary customer service, we at Pursuit Aerospace pride ourselves on competitive cost structures, exceptional on-time delivery, and industry-leading quality.

The Pursuit family of companies has cultivated long-term relationships with our customers around the world through respect, teamwork, technology, and trust. We are driven to develop industry-leading process innovations and manufacturing techniques on behalf of our customers.

About the Opportunity:

The Director of Technology and Engineering will lead technical strategy and engineering excellence across one of Pursuit Aerospace's divisions, supporting six or more manufacturing sites in the U.S. and select international locations. With a focus on machining and advanced manufacturing of aerospace components, this role drives process optimization, engineering rigor, and technical problem-solving aligned with customer and business expectations. While the position can be remote, proximity to a major airport is preferred due to frequent travel requirements-expected to be at least 50%.

At Pursuit Aerospace, a leading contract manufacturer of high-quality, precision-machined aerospace parts, we're looking for individuals who thrive in complex, fast-paced environments and are passionate about operational excellence. If you're an experienced engineering leader with deep knowledge of machining processes and a drive to make a meaningful impact across a global manufacturing footprint, this is a career-defining opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Executive Vice President of Operations to define and execute long-term engineering and manufacturing strategies that support division-wide business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership for new product development, guiding programs from concept through qualification, testing, and into full-rate production.
  • Lead and coordinate engineering efforts across a matrixed organization, influencing and supporting site-level engineering teams to ensure consistent application of best practices and technical standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in machining processes, tooling, and manufacturability to enhance quality, reduce cost, and improve delivery performance.
  • Collaborate with commercial and business development teams to evaluate the technical feasibility and market potential of new product opportunities.
  • Monitor engineering project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal milestones.
  • Serve as a hands-on technical mentor and coach, developing talent and fostering a high-performance engineering culture.
  • Regularly review project and operational performance data to identify risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other related duties and strategic initiatives to advance Pursuit Aerospace's engineering capabilities and customer satisfaction.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering discipline, preferably Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, with a strong preference for experience in aerospace manufacturing environments, particularly in machining and precision component production.
  • At least 5 years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience, with demonstrated success leading cross-functional or multi-site teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and build strong cross-functional relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams in fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environments, with a focus on delivering results and driving accountability.
  • Deep knowledge of machining processes, tooling design, functional gauging, and fixture development in aerospace or similarly regulated industries.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD and NC programming, along with a solid understanding of equipment functionality and maintenance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of program management principles, including estimating, proposal development, and collaboration with commercial teams.
  • Familiarity with Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong negotiation skills, particularly in the procurement of capital equipment and tooling.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic, matrixed environment.
  • Skilled in talent development, with the ability to coach, mentor, and lead high-performing engineering teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and comfort working with enterprise systems and technical documentation.

Working Conditions:

  • Working conditions typically include both office and shop floor environments.
  • Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor.
  • Lifting up to 20-30 lbs. may be occasionally required.
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.

Compensation & Benefits:

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $170,000 - 200,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, and geographic location.

Pursuit Aerospace also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements, among other things.

This role is remote with frequent travel required-approximately 50%-to support sites across the U.S. and internationally. While relocation is not required, candidates located near a major airport are strongly preferred to support travel efficiency.

Equal Opportunity Employer:

Pursuit Aerospace is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local laws governing nondiscrimination in employment, and we do not tolerate workplace harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, or veteran status.
