Digital Employee Communications Manager

Are you interested in a communications position that allows you to work as a people manager, digital campaign developer, project manager, and client consultant? Do you have a knack for explaining complex concepts in easy-to-understand language across digital platforms?

Aon is hiring for a Digital Employee Communications Manager in a hybrid role with the flexibility to work both virtually and from our Hammonton, NJ office. Candidates will also be considered for fully virtual if not located in New Jersey. You will report to the Director, Communications Consulting and have direct reports.

What the day will look like

The Digital Communications Manager will have two primary job functions: 1) develop and manage digital benefits communications campaigns for clients' annual benefits enrollment, new hire on-boarding support and beyond. Deliverables created are focused around digital channels including benefit guides, microsites, videos and more; and 2) day-to-day management of Digital Communications Consultants.

Client campaign responsibilities include:

  • Attend client meetings and lead discussion of communications initiatives with a consultative approach creating engagement strategies based on client's needs
  • Develop and update various benefit communication materials including benefit guides, microsites, digital benefit hubs and other materials as directed
  • Manage various projects from start to finish while coordinating deadlines and prioritizing tasks for multiple projects with short turnaround times
  • Prepare content, while being responsible for edit rounds and proofreading finalized materials
  • Provide product education and assist with special communications projects as needed
  • Assist in reviewing other materials and supporting colleagues as necessary
  • Continuously discover and implement new functions and industry best practices to maximize efficiency
  • Keep abreast of communication and benefit trends
  • Report on the effectiveness of digital employee communications campaigns for clients and provide strategic recommendations for optimization and continued work

Day to day management of Digital Communication Consultants responsibilities include:

  • Hiring, onboarding and training
  • Performance management annual cycle along with regular check-ins and development planning
  • Talent assessment and capacity planning
  • Identification of growth and development opportunities for direct reports and the team as a whole
  • Serving as a mentor/coach providing regular feedback and performance improvement opportunities
  • Working closely with Director to set task management assignment protocol, provide backup strategy for PTO coverage and to identify cross-training opportunities
  • Initial point of escalation for issue resolution
  • Participating in new business review and RFP responses as necessary

How this opportunity is different

The Digital Communications Manager will function as the communications subject matter expert for Aon's digital communications solutions. They will manage digital benefits campaigns from design and content creation to testing, distribution and development. Yet they have the support of a team including communications production, design, and web development. They also collaborate with Health Solutions and Account Management to tailor campaigns to meet clients' needs and reach their employee populations.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, graphic design or a related major (required)
  • HR and or benefits content experience preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory and/or team leader capacity overseeing the work of others
  • 7+ years professional communications, graphic design and/or UX experience (required)
  • Proficient with a variety of technical programs and software - including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, drag and drop website creator, and content management systems (ie: Wordpress). (required)
  • Experience with project managements systems (ie: Workfront, Sharepoint, Monday.com, etc)
  • Ability to organize and simultaneously handle multiple projects while working as an integral part of a team, cultivating relationships, and working independently or with minimal direction
  • Effective client service expertise with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think critically and work consultatively across departments and with client
  • Experience delivering accurate, timely and engaging messages, through digital channels

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $95,000 to $105,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
