Visa Technology & Operations LLC, a Visa Inc. company, needs a Sr. Data Engineer (multiple openings) in Austin, TX to:

  • Help design, enhance, and build next generation fraud detection solutions in an agile development environment.
  • Formulate business problems as technical data problems while ensuring key business drivers are captured in collaboration with product stakeholders.
  • Drive development effort end-to-end for on-time delivery of high-quality solutions that conform to requirements and architectural vision, and comply with all applicable standards.
  • Responsibilities span all phases of solution development.
  • Collaborate with project team members (Product Managers, Architects, Analysts, Software Engineers, Project Managers, etc.) to ensure development and implementation of new data driven business solutions or making changes to existing solutions or services.
  • Develop, test and implement solutions using one or more programming languages, software frameworks and other tools. Deliver all code commitments and ensure a complete end-to-end solution that meets and exceeds business expectations.
  • Assist in scoping and designing analytic data assets, implementing modelled attributes, and contributing to brainstorming sessions.
  • Build and maintain a robust data engineering process to develop and implement self-serve data and tools for Visa's data scientists.
  • Identify, debug and resolve issues as they arise in one or more data driven systems or services.
  • Perform other tasks on data governance, system infrastructure, analytics tool evaluation, and other cross-team functions, as needed.
  • Execute data engineering projects ranging from small to large either individually or as part of a project team.
  • Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget requirements.
  • Effectively communicate status, issues, and risks in a precise and timely manner.
  • Position reports to the Austin, Texas office and may allow for partial telecommuting.
Qualifications

Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a data engineer-related occupation.

Position requires experience in the following skills:

  • Creating data driven business solutions and solving data problems using the following technologies: Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive, Spark, NoSQL and MySQL.
  • Programming in Python and Java.
  • Data visualization and business intelligence tools, such as Tableau.
  • Agile and Test-Driven Development methodology.
  • Infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.

Travel Requirements:This position does not require travel.

Mental/Physical Requirements:This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $116,500.00 USD to $180,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
